London 21 October 2005. Agricola Resources plc ("Agricola" or "Company"), the OFEX-traded resource company involved in uranium exploration, is pleased to report the description of the rock type at Energy Ridge, the new uranium discovery at Hautajarvi, Lapland County, Northern Finland. The samples were examined at the University of Oulu, Northern Finland. The microscopic results are shown below. The rocks are strongly altered albite metadiabase rock i.e. volcanic lava. The Directors of the Company note that every sample submitted contained uraninite (uranium oxide).
Further rock samples are being examined at the British Natural History Museum.
The Directors of the Issuer accept responsibility for the contents of this announcement.

Plagioclase carbonate rock; scale bar 0.5 mm (this fig is photographed in + and - polars. The opaque grain aggregate in middle is a uraninite iron oxide composite grain

Uraninite grains in albite-carbonate host. The horizontal length of the microphotograph is 1 mm

Plagioclase-carbonate-biotite rock with uraninite (davidite)-iron-oxide dissemination in carbonate areas. The figures a and b represent the same site of the thin section; a being photographed by transmitted and b in reflecting light. The length of the scale bar is 1 mm.

Occurrence of carbonate and plagioclase in sample 0014.
The length of the horizontal edge is 4.5 mm

Occurrence of uraninite in sample 0014. The length of the horizontal edge is 1 mm

A microphotograph of sample 0018 in transmitted (a) left and (b) in reflecting light. Photos are taken from the same thin section position. The bright ore minerals are concentrated in carbonate accumulation. Pyrite grains (bright in fig b) are rimmed by Fe-oxides. In fig b the mineral accumulates having low reflective intensity (left side in the figure + between the pyrite grains) are a uraninite-goethite composite aggregates. The horizontal edge of the microphotographs is 1 mm.

A microphotograph of sample 0024 in transmitted one polar(a) left and crossed polars (b) Photos are taken from the same thin section position. Plagioclase is subhedral, moderately altered and is surrouded bu carbonate. The horizontal length of the microphotographs is 4.5 mm.

A microphotograph of sample 0024 in reflective light showing the occurrence of uraninite in a biotite-carbonate hosted fraction of the sample. The horizontal edge of the microphotographs is 1 mm
