Mineralogy of Sample from Energy Ridge
Hautajärvi Area, Lapland County, Northern Finland
London 09 January 2006. Agricola Resources PLC (“Agricola”), the OFEX-traded resource company involved in uranium exploration, is pleased to clarify on mineralogical investigations performed by the Department of Mineralogy, Natural History Museum, London. The full results of this study are given in the link at the bottom of the page.
The main mineral on the surface at Energy Ridge is not uraninite as stated previously, it is widenmannite. This is a lead uranyl carbonate having the formula Pb2(U02)(C03)3. This is a secondary uranium mineral and it occurs on the surface of uranium deposits in Germany and the Czech Republic. The Directors understand that this is the first time that this mineral has been identified in Finland.
Commenting on the results Dr. Robert Young, Agricola’s Chairman states “the significance of this result is that the mineralogy of the primary uranium mineralization below the surface at Energy Ridge will be different to the widenmannite mineralization found at the surface. The uranium grades remain exactly as previously described.”
The Directors of the Issuer accept responsibility for the contents of this announcement.
