London: 04 July 2005 - The directors of Agricola Resources plc ("Agricola") are pleased to announce that complete results have been received of the initial radon survey over the area adjacent to the Paukkajanvaara mine in Finland. The sensor cups from the survey have been analysed at Radonlab in Oslo, Norway (www.radonlab.no).
A total of 97 sensor cups were placed along selected grid lines at 25-50 m spacing covering ground of geological potential surrounding the mine area up to two kilometres away from the mine site. Reference cups were also placed on the mine site, which since the 1970s has been covered by thick soil and re-vegetated. At each sample site a sensor cup was placed in a dug out hole inthe soil at about 30 cm depth. The hole with the sensor cup at the bottom was refilled with soil. After a sensor reacting time of four days the cups were picked up, sealed and sent for analysis at the laboratory in Oslo, Norway.
The results are very encouraging. Four new areas of potential interest for new uranium discoveries outside the immediate mine area have been identified. (Locations shown on www.agricolaresources.com). Three areas indicate new target zones and one of the areas (1) points to a southern extension of the uranium bearing horizons from the mine site. One of the areas (2) is located about 1.5 km east of the mine site and is closely associated with geological structures and rock types similar to those of the mine. The other two areas (3 and 4) are located to the northeast and the northwest about 500-600 m away from the mine. The actual mine site area gave very high radon results.
The objective of the survey is to pinpoint new targets and mine extensions for an early drilling campaign in the area. Agricola will conduct additional radon testing in the new areas before drilling in 2005.
As earlier informed by Agricola seven boulders with high grades of uranium were located in the area by scintillometer surveys at the same time as the radon survey. The boulders contain abundant yellowish uranophane and pitchblende. Samples of the boulders have been sent for analysis at ALS/Chemex laboratory in Vancouver, Canada. Results are expected by the end of July.
Discussions about a joint venture with a major uranium company on the licences in Finland are on going. The directors of Agricola accept responsibility for this announcement.
